We have a Rights Respecting committee who meet to discuss what is happening in each class and share ideas to improve awareness of Rights, throughout the school.

Our Rights Respecting committee this session are:

Leo P1, Isla P1, Rowan P2, Sienna P3, Lucas P4, Ruby P5, Sophie P5, Xanthe P5, Ethan P6, Lachlan P6, John P7, Sam P7 and Callum P7.

All the classes from the nursery through to P7, and the school community, have been learning about children’s rights, putting them into practice every day.

Our teaching is not just about what children do but also, importantly, what adults do. We are hoping the difference made by continuing and developing our path as a Rights Respecting School goes beyond the school gates, making a positive impact on the whole community.

By creating class and playground charters with each class; learning about Rights during Health, Current Affairs lessons and special celebration days; and sharing information during assemblies, we want:

  • All pupils and adults to know about rights
  • Enable all children and adults to exercise their rights

  • All children and adults to feel valued
  • Everyone to recognise the rights of others
  • A culture of respect across the school
  • Pupil engagement – a shared sense of community and belonging
  • A culture where children’s voices are heard and valued
  • Children take their right to an education seriously
  • Global citizenship – where pupils believe they can change the world for the better
  • Pupils develop self-esteem and value themselves
  • A whole school environment where all children feel safe and cared for
